These are the rules for using Ottermates. By using the app you agree to them. We have kept them short and readable, because terms nobody can read protect nobody.

You need to be at least 18 years old. Ottermates is made for adults in relationships and some question packs are written for an adult audience.
The daily question, answering it, revealing it together and your shared streak are free, and are intended to stay that way. Every question pack also lets you play its first three cards in full, reveal included, so you can see what a pack is like before paying for it.
A subscription unlocks the remaining cards in all eight packs, and any packs added later while it is active.
Prices are shown in your local currency in the app, and the amount you see there is the amount you pay. Prices may differ by country because stores convert and adjust them.
There is no free trial. We do not offer one on purpose. You are never signed up to something that quietly starts charging you later: if you subscribe, you have chosen to pay now, and the free part of the app stays free whether or not you ever do.
One subscription covers both of you. When one partner subscribes, both partners get everything. You do not each need to pay.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
You manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple or Google account settings, not in Ottermates, because that is where the payment lives. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, since they take the payment. If something has gone wrong, email us anyway and we will help you sort it out.
If a subscription ends, you keep your answers, your history and the free daily question. You simply lose access to the paid cards.
What you write in Ottermates is yours. We do not claim ownership of it, we do not use it to train anything, and we do not publish it. We store and display it for the narrow purpose of running the app: showing it to your partner after you have both answered, and showing it back to you both later.
Ottermates is a private space between two people, so there is not much to police. Still: do not use it to harass or abuse someone, do not use it if you are not old enough, and do not try to break, overload or reverse engineer the service. We may suspend an account that is being used to harm someone.
You can unpair at any time. If you do, each of you keeps your own answers and your own copy of the history. Premium follows whoever paid for it.
We will keep improving Ottermates, which means features can change. If we ever need to remove something you paid for, we will tell you first and make it right.
We work hard to keep Ottermates running and your writing safe, but we cannot promise the service will never be unavailable or that it will be free of faults. The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem.
None of this takes away rights you have under the consumer law where you live. If your local law gives you more, your local law wins.
You can stop using Ottermates at any time and delete your account from within the app. We may end your access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
