Ottermates is made by Fabulous Apps, a small independent studio. Not a venture-backed relationship platform, not a content farm with an app attached. This page says who builds it, why it works the way it does, and what else we have shipped, so you can judge whether we are worth trusting with what you write to your partner.

Who we are
Fabulous Apps is an independent studio run by Fabián López. We build small, focused mobile apps with a strong visual identity, usually built around one mechanic done properly rather than a long feature list.
That matters for a couples app more than for most software, because you are being asked to put real things about your relationship into it. You should know it is a named person and a real company rather than an anonymous listing, and you should be able to reach us and get a human reply. Why the reveal is withheld
Ottermates asks the two of you one question a day. You both answer, and neither of you sees the other's answer until you have both replied.
That constraint is the entire product, and it exists because the alternative does not work. If one answer is visible first, the second person adjusts, softens, or matches it. Everyone does, mostly without noticing. The whole value of asking is getting the answer your partner would have given on their own, so the app has to make that structurally impossible rather than politely discourage it.
How we write the questions
The questions are written, not generated. Each one has to pass a simple test: could you answer it in one word and be done? If yes, it is a bad question and it does not go in.
The best ones ask you to predict or to notice rather than to declare. What do you need from me when you are stressed produces something usable. Are you happy produces a yes. Most of the free guides on this site come out of the same drafting process, which is why they read like the app rather than like filler.
What else we have built
The studio's other apps are listed at fabapps.dev, and they share the same approach: one clear job, done carefully, with an identity of its own rather than a template.
We mention them here for a plain reason. An app that holds private things between two people should not be your first encounter with a developer you cannot look up.
How we make money, stated plainly
Ottermates is free to install with a paid subscription for the full thing. That is the only way it makes money.
There is no advertising in the app and no advertising software in it either, so nothing about you is sold or shared with advertisers. Purchases go through Apple or Google, which means we never see your card. If any of that changes, it will be written here and in the privacy policy rather than quietly adjusted.
Getting in touch
There is a contact form, and there is an email address, hello@ottermates.app, which a person reads. If something in the app is broken, telling us is genuinely useful and we would rather hear it than not.
